New guy looking for info

Hello all,
I am about to start back to work on my '69 that I disasembled many years ago, and due to lots of different reasons, I have not been able to do anything with it till now.
I want to bring it back correctly, and would like suggestions on manuals that can tell me the correct paint finishes or coatings for everything.
Thank you in advance for any help.

Bo, have you looked at the catalog from Ames Performance Engineering? If not, there are a couple restoration guides you might want to purchase. Very helpful. Regards, Matt

I was looking for suggestions of which are the best manuals with detailed information.
Some of the so called "restoration manuals" are really just magazines in a hard cover with pretty pictures of cars.

Bo, the Pontiac GTO Restoration Guide — 1964-72 is pretty good I think. it has part numbers, codes and color charts from original factory literature, points out what goes where, what parts are good or bad, and the best way to put the car together. I recommend it. Matt

I agree; get the Roberts & Zazarine Restoration Guide; been using it for years.

Also, get the 1969 Factory Service Manual (NOT Chilton or Motor manual) as well as the Fisher Body Service Manual.

And if you can find one, the Vehicle Assembly Manual will also be very helpful.

1968 Pontiac GTO
1983 Pontiac Bonneville (G) wagon
2008 Pontiac G8 base
