oil leak

Just bought a 64 lemans 326 2bl 3 speed mt. Drove it 10 miles came home let car set not running, went back to car and sounded like a hose blew,open hood, lots of smoke,steam but no coolant leak, just oil,on air cleaner, valve cover on top and ac compressor.Now oil on top of oil filter running down on exhaust pipe. Dont understand all the noise and where all the oil came from on top . Anybody have any answers HELP.

Could be a number of things....pics would be helpful.
Are you sure it's engine oil and not A/C refrigerant? There is oil in the refrigerant and it makes a mess when you blow a line...

Went out and looked and hoses look okay but looking closer found the seal blown on the rear air compessor case, not the o ring for the tubes but the case. This explains why there was oil on the top of the valve cover and air cleaner and the a/c quit working just before that. Never saw a seal blow there before. This explains the noise, it was under pressure. Now I have two problems, a/c compessor and engine oil leak, which is just typical. I never thought abought a/c. Thank you for your help.
