ram air cable connection help

I have a 1969 GTO Ram Air IV. I installed a new flapper door assembly for the ram air (never had the original). I don't know how to connect the upper ram air cable to the flapper door. The flapper has one round hole that appears to be where the cable would connect. I purchased a new upper cable, so I have the end of the cable and a round hole in the flapper, there must be something to connect the two?

Not sure they are the same, but in my 70 RA 3 the end of the cable is shaped like an elongated 'z' and that fits in the hole and provides the connection. Make sense?

Yes that makes sense, my cable is similar, however when I put it in the hole it doesn't stay, like the hole is too big.

Changing the size of the hole should not be much of a problem then. Right?

The part the hole is in is plastic. Any idea how to make the hole smaller?
