Recommended fluids

Looking for experienced drivers, GTO fluids suggestions. 65 rebuilt 389 (10-1 compression), Tri-Power, rebuilt manual trany, 10 bolt posi rear / 3:73 ratio. Completed break in and now 2k miles on second motor fluid (Delo 400 15/40 Diesel fluid, ZDP additive) Time for the third motor oil change and looking for transmission and rear end suggestions. Did I shock anyone with the diesel motor oil? Thanks for your time.

This question has been hashed over 100 times here. You can do a Google Custom Search in the upper right hand corner. Type in "what type of oil" and see what you get.

100 people, 100 suggestions.

I've been running diesel spec oil in my old cars for years now. No worries. I run Rotella usually, or Delo. Usually 15/40 due to my climate. The 4 speeds in these cars like a non-synthetic gear oil, 75w-90 or 85w-90 (straight 90 is no longer available and was factory fill). The rear end will need the same oil, with a bottle of limited slip additive added. DO NOT use gear oil for limited slip rear ends in your transmission....it will cause synchronizer failure.

Apparently some reformulations and different names on the Rotella. It seems the choice pick is the Rotella T4 and not the Rotella T Triple.

Read these: https://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forum...-reformulation and https://rotella.shell.com/en_us/prod...rotection.html

Thank you sir's.. Exactly what I was looking for. I know I can get 100 or 1000 different answers on the internet. After 7 months of rack time and complete engine restore, maintaining numbers matching originals, and being a novice, I'd rather take my chances here. Thanks again...
