I am adding a ford remote soleniod to my 68 to help with a heat soaked starter. Do I have to t remove the old soleniod or can I run them both

You have to keep the old one, you move some wires and jumper something on it, but I can't remember exactly right now.
Hopefully this site will give you a good start.
Catalog
darn it, it doesn't give detailed instructions there, just a small diagram. I know on hotrodders.com this has come up often and there are some good links there.

Yes, leave it on. Then jumper the battery cable to the "S" terminal on the starter solenoid. Run the purple wire from the original solenoid to the ford solenoid to activate that when the key goes to start.
