Voltage a bit high

Tested voltage with a multimeter...testing about 12.8v at the battery with the car off, then watched it climb slowly to over 14.5v after I started the car and let it idle. Are those numbers too high and indicative of a voltage regulator problem?

Cool thanks...I'm installing a voltage meter under the dash and though I'd baseline the numbers at the battery to compare versus the meter. I was worried they may be a bit high.
