What are these?

I am having the front seats from my 1965 GTO rebuilt and when the upholstery guy pulled the aftermarket seat covers to get to the original one he found these things on the back of both seats. There are two per seat and they attached to the top of the frame with screws. The upholstery guy had no idea what they are and we cannot find them in any catalogue. Anyone have any idea what they are or even seen anything like them?

My seats are done and I just had my guy remove the screws from the frame, so I dont have a picture of where they went. I got a pic off the net and marked where they were. My seats were red not black so they matched the color kind of.

Aftermarket hangers for a map rack or a child's steering wheel. Not factory at all.

Garage
Maybe someone added a set of non-original head rests and each leg of the head rest fitted and slid up/down the rollers?

Jim, that is a good possibility. Would have been pretty ugly, too!
