What weight of oil are you guys running?

Hey guys, noob here, possibly pickin up a 67 convertible GTO clone tomorrow w/ the 400, curious to know what oil weight would be recommended. I read over at the BITOG (bob is the oil guy) forums that a 10w-40 or 15w-40 would be ideal for this engine. Sound about right? Thanks in advance for your help.

those are probably fine. I have been using Castrol GTX 10w-30 for 2 years. I change the oil every spring. Cars get driven in March - November.

Massive,
10w40 is a popular grade for high performance engines.

AMSOIL makes several good oils in (or near) that grade:
AMSOIL XL Synthetic 10w40
AMSOIL Synthetic 5w40 European Motor Oil
AMSOIL SAE 10w40 Synthetic High Performance Motor Oil

If you have any questions about any of these, please don't hesitate to drop me a line at [email protected].

Enjoy your new ride.
