What's it for?

Hi guys. May be a newbie question but I need help identifying the part coming off the voltage regulator. It's in-line with the blue wire. My wiring diagram doesn't show it. '67 GTO. Thanks for your help.

Looks like someone added a ballast resistor. Where does the wire go?

It's in-line between the F terminal of the VR and the alternator. There is also a small junction (right above the part in red) that comes off the #4 terminal of the VR? No problem with the electrical system, just like to know what they are for.
