xk block????

Hi guys
I ran the numbers today on the non numbers motor in my car. It's an xk block. Any idea what cars these came in. It says it's a 67 428 Block on a few websites.

Simply narrow down/confirm the block date using the casting numbers near the distributor hole. This will provide the year and then you can ID the code as Pontiac used many of the same codes for differing years. 428CI has a big triangular lug on the back of the engine left/right side near the distributor also for easy ID of 421/428/455 blocks.

According to the Wallace engine ID site, there was also an XK 428 in '69. The block casting number was 9792968. It came with #62 heads and an auto trans.

http://www.wallaceracing.com/enginesearch4.htm

The '67 XK 428 had a 9786135 casting number block, used #670 heads, and came with a manual trans.

The XK code was also used on lots of 400 engines in '73, '77, & '78. The '73 engines used 481988 blocks and 4x heads. The '77 & '78 engines used either 500557 or 568557 blocks, with 6x heads.

I can't verify that this info is correct. But most of the Wallace info is usually correct.
