S/ST '69 Bird

I missed this Super Street class '69 Bird. His name is Doug Jones. He won a round at the div 7 race.

Here's a lot of pics of his build project.

Pacific Sportsnationals

There were a few Pontiacs in action again this weekend, in CA. Leo Glasbrenner, Tommy Brown, and Lindy Lindholm had their Stockers racin. Leo and Keri Angeles were entered in Super Stock.

Leo and Lindy won their Stock classes. Then Leo and Tommy won 3 rounds of Stock elims. Leo made it all the way to the final round.

But in the final he drew a big red eye.

But, when you win 5 rounds of Stock at a big race, you have to say you had a pretty good day. So, congrats to Leo for representing Pontiac power very well at the Pacific Sportsnationals.

Summernationals

There's a lot of racing going on this weekend. There's a National event, called the Summernationals, in Englishtown, NJ. There are 4 Pontiac powered Stockers and 1 Super Stocker.

3 of the Stockers are 1st gen Birds. One is the E/SA national record holder '71 455HO T-37, driven by Scott Underhill. The SS car is a GT/CA 428 powered '98 Bird, driven by Sam Biondo.

Here's the final round of qualifying in Stock. Adam Strang is the highest qualified Pontiac, with his E/S '68 Bird.

ENGLISHTOWN - Stock Eliminator Final Qualifying, Session #3 Order

Scott Underhill won his E/SA class, and Todd Hoven was RU in his "Hard Times" '68 Bird.

Randi Lynn Shipp made it to the finals in C/SA, against the quickest car in the class. But, I reckin he was just a bit overconfident. He cut a real bad light, she cut a .007 light, and picked up the class win ! Great job Randi !!!

Lot'a Action

There'll be lots of Pontiacs in action to day. Besides the Summernationals, there is a div 2 race. There we have the two '73 Birds of Adam Davis and Michael Brand.

LODRS 2-5 - Stock Eliminator Qualifying, Friday Order

In div 3 we have at least 5 Pontiac Stockers--Tommy Pettigrew, Julie Biermann, Jack Larsen, Don Turk, and Todd Kuhn. There's quite an assortment of body styles. There's a '70 GTO, a 1st & 2nd Bird, a '74 Grand Am, and a '77 Lemans.

LODRS 3-3 - Stock Eliminator Qualifying, Friday Order

In div 5, we have an E/SA '68 Bird, driven by Ronald Prince, and a K/SA '76 Bird, driven by Kevin Love.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...r=100#indextop

And Don Elgin is representing Pontiac at the div 6 race, with his Grand Am.

LODRS 6-2 - Stock Eliminator Qualifying, Friday Order

Good luck to all the Pontiac racers today !

E-1

After the 1st round of elims, at the Summers, we still have the SS Bird and 2 of the Stocker Birds in the game. Randi Lyn and Todd Hoven made it thru, as did Sam Biondo.

ENGLISHTOWN - Stock Eliminator Round 1 Eliminations

ENGLISHTOWN - Super Stock Round 1 Eliminations

And all 3 are still in after round 2.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...er=30#indextop

Well, Randi Lyn was the only Pontiac to survive round 3. But she cut a bad light in round 4. So, all the Pontiacs are out, at the Summers.

Div 3

They raced 'til the wee hours at the div 3 race. Only 1 Pontiac made it thru round 1. And he bowed out in round 2.

LODRS 3-3 - Stock Eliminator Round 1 Eliminations

LODRS 3-3 - Stock Eliminator Round 2 Eliminations

In div 5, neither Pontiac made it passed the 1st round.

So, I think Don Elgin, in div 6, has the only Pontiac left in div elims, this weekend.

http://www.dragracecentral.com/DRCSt...r=100#indextop

Well, Don lost in round 1. So, that's all for the Pontiacs, this weekend.

Thanks oldskool,
ESP for action pics of the Hard Times Firebird and Scott U's 455 HO T-37

Not only is Scott's T-37 a national record holder, but it's one owner family owned originally ordered with 455 HO to go class racing.

Gt-37

Hey, if ya'll like T-37's, how 'bout a GT-37 ? This one belongs to Bill Meyer. He just won the Pro Street bracket at Grove Creek Raceway, with a 6.57 1/8 mile ET.

Even got a video of one of his 6 sec passes.

Thanks oldskool, have met Bill before, and watched his car run years ago at RockFalls, WI. It was miserable hot humid day that July, but the car ran well considering the conditions.

Really liked Scott's HO T-37 hardtop, as it's one of the very few original HO T-37's that's been campaigned year after year since new. Scott posts infrequently on PY board. My own projects include the '71 HO T-37 Coupe (Pontiac Engr/ Proving Grounds car) along with an original HO 71 HO GT-37, last raced, then parked in '77. Both are undergoing frameoff restoration for eventual show debut, and then Pure Stock racing. Love the factory lightweights!
