Yep, mixed up father and son's names.
amazing attention to drivetrain and chassis detail. would love to spend a few days getting the close up on the transmission build and converter. Lot of ET has been knocked off in that respect over the years.
Consider the following...
Pontiac E Stockers in the early- mid 70's were running mid to low 12's. I got to go over the ex Truman Fields '72 HO GTO stocker very well, two summers ago. As run as an NHRA stocker, very close to 10-1 C/R, no porting, NHRA cheater cam, stock intake, open headers, 4.33-4.56 gearing, 4000+ rpm stall converter, relatively tall 15" slicks. Today, competitive E stocker...high 10's-low 11's.
Today's quickest Pontiac Pure Stock Drag equivalents
(will factor as E/SA or F/SA, at best, if using the NHRA formulas).
Set up right, Pure Stock legal 455 HO (no porting, optimized 068 cam, no more than .421 lift) 2200 rpm max stall, 3.73 gearing, G70-14's on 6" wide wheels, full 2.5" exhaust through untouched 2.25 round port manifolds... low low 12's, with a high 11, just the right car and right air, coming very soon.
