Ford F-350 Pick up almost kicks my ass!

Okay, so I'm out Xmas shopping minding my own business when a HUGE Ford pickup truck pulls up next to me at a light. I notice that the badge says F-350 and what catches my eye is that it also says "Diesel Tweaks" or something very similar. I thought this was odd on an otherwise plain looking truck, but didn't give it too much of a thought, until... The light turns green and not expecting a truck to be dragging with me, the guy is keeping even with me! I had done a "normal" GTO partial throttle take off which is usually enough to be across the street before the other guy has moved 3 feet. "WTF?!!?" I think and floor it just in time to have a very nice tire squeal as the car shifted and I left him in the dust.

NowI know back in the early 70's Chevrolet made a 455 short bed that was the fastest US vehicle - this due to a loop hole in the emissions laws that trucks had little if any controls and before catalytic converters this made all the difference in the world. But hey, those days are gone! So what's with "Diesel Tweaks"? Are these some super-sleeper trucks or what?

I used to work for Gale Banks Engineering (one of the premier diesel hotrod places) and it is amazing what you can do with a diesel truck. For right around a $1,000.00 you can add 150hp and over 300 lbs of torque very easily to the new Ford/Dodge or Chevrolet diesels. Definitely not uncommon to have legit 12 second diesel pickups roaming around....and the fast ones are usually 4wd...they actually race them in 4wd so they hook up better on the starting line. As you can imagine a vehicle with 800+ ft/lbs of torque can fry those back tires almost at will.

Yea my friend has a 01Powerstroke and it hauls ass! He has Air Intake, Magnaflow exhaust, Different Tubo wheel and housing, custum chip that has four settings the greatest of which adds 140hp. I raced him in a E420 and he kept dead even with me and that mercedes has close to 300hp! If he had an upgraded transmission I have a feeling he could keep up with the Goat on the quarter. He wants to upgrade to the BTS transmission. One of the best trannys availible. Dont ever underestimate a Diesel!

Some guy up here this fall had a Chevy pickup with a Duramax at the local drag strip. Turned a 13.5! The Duramax is one tough engine and will take quite a few mods that can easily double (or more) your stock horsepower. Only problem was that there was so much black smoke.......

Send a message via AIM to Whiteshadow
I had a video at one time of a Dodge dually running the quarter in the low 12's... I also have a video of a dyno tune where this dude was making over 1000ft/lb torque. Pretty awesome stuff!
