Currently working on restoring my 65 GTO. I would like to make it as correct as possible. Can anyone help with the following?

Interior gloss level? Is there a specification for the clear/gloss used for the dash, doors ect. Is the level 100% - 60% ect???

Fuel tank exterior color: what is the correct color for the outside of the tank?

undercarriage? is there a paint code for this as well?

thanks!

my resto book ( pontiac restoration guide, Paul zazarine & chuck roberts) states the interior is 60%gloss and the upper instrument panel is 0% gloss-
i believe the fuel tank was not painted- frames were painted gloss black
you should pick this book up TONS of info- get it on ebay cheap

I sprayed my dash in 2 stages, the paint was a gloss black and the clear coat was mixed with a flatner to get the 60% gloss. In front of the dash pad is flat. This was a pain in the a** and I had to paint one of the tops of a door 4 times because of runs.

The easy way is to buy a quart of rustoleum black gloss and a guart of rustoleum black flat. Also, buy a gallon of oil based paint thinner.

Mix;
6 parts of gloss black with 4 parts of flat black, take this mix and add 3 parts of oil based paint thinner.

This mix goes on very well and looks great when it dries, I never had any problems with runs or had to respray. There is a gas tank paint that resist gas spills either from Eastman or Year one.

I painted my frame, firewall, top of inner fenders and underbody with 60%. I sprayed my underbody and under the wheelhouse and inner fender with 3M paintable undercoating before spraying with the 60% mix.

I agree with the above info. I would like to point out that I have never seen a '65 with a painted frame. I've seen a lot of them over the years, and have never seen an original car with any paint on the frame. However, if I ever restore mine, I'll paint it low gloss GM chassis black, or something comparable. Anybody out there have an ORIGINAL GTO with a painted frame??
