LS1 intake...

Which is best in your opinion?

-AEM Brute Force
-K&N Intake
-Volant CAI

Yes, I know I left Lingenfelter out, as I know most of you would instantly say Lingenfelter. So, aside from them... out of those 3, whose the best between output and sound?

On my LS-1 gto I did the following.

There is a water line that heats the throttle body. 2 ways to remove this heat source, 5/16-1' long fuel line and splice the line around the TB.
I simply re-routed the entire line with new 5/16 fuel line. This line is part of the pollution control so adhere to whatever rules you wish or must.

I used a K&N off road..also not legal.
Used 2000 degree adhesive backed insulation to the inside and outside of the K&N heat shield..my opinion heat soak. Insulated the intake tube.
I completely isolated the filter from the engine bay heat. Cut the insulation so it seals the hole through the heat shield. Also applied the insulation to the side of the radiator towards the filter.

Manifold temps are consistantly 40 degrees higher than abient at the rear of the intake manifold....whatever ambient is at the TB.

I liive in Alabama where ambient will soon be in the 90's.... but while its below freezing I can feel the extra power. Either ambient temp my intake air is denser...more air molecules.. than stock. I also had it tuned after these mods.

In short I love the sound it added the most.

I have installed maybe four k/n intakes- good product good results, a little concerned about the oil thing with the mass air flow sensor. I installed one air raid system, only had truck two weeks after install and noticed that it gulped alot of air and the kit was nice quality. I had one volant I installed on '01 dodge ram nice looking, alot of plastic, and not so great fit, but good performance. Just purchased AEM intake with no oily filter, still wating for the UPS man to show up.

CAI system

I went with the AEM, but that does not make it better. One day I wanted to wash my air filter and I thought it would be a good idea if I had a spare one. I went to my local parts store and picked up a K&N cone filter to use as a spare. As soon as I installed it and started the car my engine service light came on. It seems that the K&N filter was WAY too restrictive when compaired to my AEM filter. Dried off the AEM and placed it back in my car and I returned the K&N.

447 CI forged stroker [ 7.3 liter ] 6 Bolt main caps
Holley Modular Mid rise Intake Manifold.
F1 Procharger ,

Just way too much to list,
