Coolant Leak

Long story short.... I replaced my radiator cap due to seeing coolant residue down the side of the radiator starting at the cap. Prior to replacing the cap I never saw any coolant on the ground or anywhere other than the side of the radiator below the cap. AFTER replacing the cap filling and burping the system I drove the car a good 30 miles. Temp never went over 195*. Just went out and checked and now there is a small pool of coolant directly under the harmonic balancer on the ground.

One thing to consider is if you had a leaking cap it didn't build enough pressure to make the water pump leak.

Basically the pump COULD have been bad for a while and fixing the cap means it wasnt masking the pump problem any more.....good point
