Hey waterboy welcome to the forum.

The steering wheel along with the buttons are the same for 05-06. My steering wheel which was replaced with an 06 one is identical to the 05. You will need wiring run to the buttons for them to illuminate. I would assume in the 05' there may not be a connection to accept wiring. Your best bet would be to contact your dealer's parts department and see if the steering wheel part number is the same for both model years. They should also have a schematic showing the internal workings of the steering wheel.

It's probable you may need new buttons with the wiring harness. The parts department would confirm this.
