Generator vs valve-cover......

Hello guys,
once again, I have a Problem with my 1968 Le Mans.
Next winter, I want to install aluminium valve covers (with Pontiac logo) instead of the old ones.
Now I saw, that there is no clearence between Generator and valve cover.
When loosen the srew and turning the Generator a little bit, there's no more place between cover and Generator. (so it won't help buying a longer belt...)
Do you have any idea ? Maybe install a new (100 Amps) generator ?
Which will fit ?
Maybe other brackets ?
Please have a look at the pics.

somebody put a non pontiac alternator on your car ...

the 2 halves look to be not clocked correctly

the square plug to the regulator should be at the top of the back in the
snug belt location ...

looks like its 1/4 turn off

back needs to be turned 1/4 turn counter clockwise so the plug and the adjuster bolt are in line

I gladly found (for a small dollar / Euro) a new alternator with the plug at 12°° position here in germany...

Hello guys,
now I have the exact (new) alternator, and I have a new problem:
Voltage is constant at 15,2 Volt. I changed the voltage regulator and this happend:
First, voltage at 12 volts, increasing up to 17 volt during 20 seconds....
The generator lamp lights.
I opened both regulators, and inside, they seem to be the same....except one screw at the old one.
With this screw, it's possible to rise the force of the spring at the coil.
So, I think I can adjust the regulator ?
Did anyone do this before ?

...solved the problem:
new regulator is junk ( t I think, one coil doesn't switch exactly, contacts to wide. Could bent a little bit, but it's too much risk..)
I adjusted the voltage with the screw by reducing the spring-tension. Left turn, reducing voltage...
Now regulates to 14,4 volt.
Maybe during winter time, I'll think about an solid state regulator.
Does anyone have the exact model-number for a solid state regulator ?
