Bye, Bye, Sheila!

Well Iím seriously thinking about dropping the GTO and trading it for an Ď06 Wrangler Rubicon w/ the off road package. The GTO is not very practical for me. She sets in the garage all week just waiting for the weekend. And Iíve always been more of a 4x4 person with these winters we have it would just make more sience. Anyway I have the Chevelle to cruise the streets. I just need something to cruise the off road in. I'm going this weekend to check on a deal, keep ya posted...

Living in WV and not having an off-road 4x4 is like living in Florida and not having sun tan lotion. You need it to enjoy where you live.

Well, I just sold two cars, one for better gas mileage, and one because I have the GTO.

Sold my '68 Chevelle to a guy in Texas; he's having a transport pick it up next week.

Traded my wife's Jeep Liberty for exactly the opposite reasons you stated, we NEVER go off roading, and she was getting 17mpg no matter what she did.

As they say, different strokes- - - good luck with your decision.

Wow, love our Liberty. It is a diesel with lots of power 300 lbft torque and 26 MPG. We can from Wyoming and cherished our offroading. It took us where our GTO would not even begin. What vistas, what mountain, what the He... am I doing in Kansas?

I know how you feel GTO_400, I sold my '93 Explorer I built while I was in Alaska. Here in Nebraska there is no four wheeling to be done. About 4 hours away in Tuttle Creek, KS you can go and have some fun on 5 different levels of terrain. Not worth it for me, so I bought the GTO and changed my passion. When we get back to the South East, I plan to get another off road vehicle hopefully when I retire from the military and get the [email protected]#k outta Nebraska. I will be keeping the GTO!

I think I'll hold off till the updated '07 Wrangler Rubicon comes out this fall. It gets the V6 w/205hp instead of the straight 6 w/190. Plus a whole lot nicer interior as well. And there going to introduce a 4dr Wrangler. And I'll love the electronic sway bar disconnects WTG Jeep!

Waiting for the JK's to come out may be a good idea. I have a 2002 Jeep Wrangler Sahara, which also serves as my daily driver. Now my TJ is an excellent Jeep. I have owned it since new, and never had a mechanical problem with it. However, I am also mis-using it as it is not a very good daily driver. The short wheelbase of the vehicle is a real problem in a number of situations. It is not a good highway cruiser, it is easily blown around on windy days, it is somewhat loud (especially with the softtop on, not as bad with hardtop on). Also as a heads up, it is the worst vehicle I have ever driven in slippery conditions. Again, from that short wheelbase. It slides, spins, etc extremely easily. Also it's shape lends it to having excessive wind noise. They are certainly capable off roaders, but I am not sure I would want a second as a daily driver.

Also, I did know what I was getting into when I bought it, and I did enjoy it for a couple years. However, it's flaws as a DD to wear on you....

The new JK will address some of these problems. It has a slightly longer wheelbase which will help (much longer if you get the 4 door). It also will also have stability control which should help in the winter.

Just be ready to live with a Wrangler's faults as a DD. If your not, something like a Hummer H3 or Toyota FJ Cruiser may be more to your liking...

I must say, however, being able to drop the top is cool!

Hummer...Toyota them be cuss words to us jeep fans But seriously the salesman said the same thing your saying and told me I should hold off till this fall. I'm still bumfuzzled that he even suggested such a thing. Most would not have mentioned the '07 and would have stuck me in anything to make a sale. I guess there are some good salesman out there, sure glad I found one. By the way I'm going to test drive the SH** out of it first thanks for the heads up...
