I nicked the shaft!

While grinding off the race for the pinion bearing I went too far and made a nice mark on the shaft. Still usable or trash?

I would say if it is the surface that the inner race presses on you'll be fine. It's not like a crankshaft bearing surface that is spinning on a soft bearing.
