The Marketing Genuis that is GM!

So i get this borsure type magazine called "Pontiac Performace" or something along that line. It had info specific to my new GTO. While reading it they were advertising for XM radio and Onstar. It also mention to contact my local dealer about getting these features. Now I would like to get Onstar and XM however the last I heard Onstar is not available for the GTO and it can not be added on as an aftermarket option! Who the hell reviews these things!?!?
Also why won't GM offer Onstar as an aftermarket option? I'm sure they would get alot more subscribers if they would offer it that way.

Most of the reasoning is that the GTO is an import. The Aussies don't have Onstar or XM, thus the car is not wired for either one. Onstar, to my knowledge, is integrated into the computer and operating parameters of the vehicle. Airbags, check engine lights, GPS and the like are all part of the system, which is built into the vehicle. It's not a plug and play device.

GM, knowing that the lifespan would be short, decided that the expense was too much I'm sure.

Agreed, I've got XM in one of my other cars and Sirius in the other. I really like satellite radio for long drives. Was truly disappointed that GM didn't offer it in the GTO. Likewise with Onstar. My wife viewed it as a gadget when she first got her Yukon Denali. Now she loves the feeling of security it provides. For $12.95/XM and $20/Onstar there is reasonable value.

But, for Pontiackk to send that brochure to those of us who can only lust in vain is just mean. Or completely clueless! I vote for the latter.
