The strangest thing ever...

Watering the plants around the house today and when I finished I was rolling up the hose when a real pretty bee flew up to the window sill and landed. It was a really deap deap blue almost totaly black, really cool looking. I just figured it was checking me out and didn't pay much attention. I'm not sure what they are called, but I've always called them a Mud waspt cause they make their nest out of what looks like mud, doh!
Well right in front of me this guy flys itself right into a spider web and just hangs there, and I was like, well, maybe I'll take the hose end and get him out?!? Just before I get to the end of the hose he twitches a bit and then again, just hangs there. Now the spider comes out and I figured this is going to be good, just as the spider gets to the bee and goes to attack it, the bee rips three of it's legs loose, grabs the spider, viciously stings it like three times with his tail, clamps down on him with his mouth, rips itself out of the web and flys away with the spider in his mouth!! I was like WTF??!!?? A meat eating bee?? I think I need therapy now!

Boy that is some funny stuff. "Meat eating bee".

I think that wasp captures the spider and lays it's eggs in it. I seen a show on Discovery Channel were a wasp does the same thing to a spider that has it's web on the ground. When the spider sees the wasp it tries to run back into it's burrow but the wasp follows, opens up a can of whoop ass and drags the spider out to use as a buffet for it's babies. There is also a fly that makes a spider flee for it's life. Crazy stuff!

Look at the bright side of this massacre. You have one less spider around the house now.

It's a wasp really. There's several different types, the most famous one being the Tarantula Hawk. It actually goes into a tarantula burrow and fights it there, stings it to paralyze it, then drags the thing back to it's own burrow to do exactly what was mentioned. Lay an egg on the spider so the baby wasp has a warm fresh meal when it's hungry.
