true story: why i chose a Pontiac (GTO)

Father born in Buffalo, NY, mother born in Ottawa, Ontario Canada. She was a descendant of Chief Pontiac. How exactly? I don't know. Grandmother doesn't discuss it. She has miniature statues of him and Indian artifacts in her home. I remember her saying she is a descendant when I was young, but I never knew how much truth there was to it. Regardless if I'm a descendant or not, its a true story, so imma roll with it.

You should check in with Indian Casino's in Connecticut. If you can prove that you are at least 10% Indian. You can get some benefits from them including cash

I thought about that, but that seems so...I don't know. I was never interested in free money. I'm only doing my genealogy for my daughter. I found out that I'm not Ottawa, that I'm Mohawk with a little Ottawa in me. Either way, I'm about 45-50% native american. I'm having my uncle help me with the Genealogy though. I know in some indian casinos, the men get $80,000/year to work and the women get like $35,000/year to stay home. I make that now, so it wouldn't be worth it to move. I love it in California, unless the pay was retro! Lol

I just started to look in to it myself. My Grandmother [ on my mothers side ] is French/Indian from Canada. My Fathers side are all 100% Italian. Extra free money and the benefits if you have Indian Blood is wonderful. Off hand I just don't remember the long list of items that they give you. One of them is interest free home loans and one more is a retirement funding source that most likely is better then Social Security.

This would be good for me because I had to retire a few years ago from
Pratt & Whitney Aircraft . It was a $100,000.00 + a year job but I became ill and a few of my Doctors told me, YOU HAD ENOUGH. and would not sign off on a Return To Work approval letter. Just took my pension [ it's a good one ] and applied for S.S benefits and I was approved on the first try.
Plus the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers Union had a program [ you had to pay into it monthly when working ] that allowed you to get a nice monthly check if you ever became ill or injured and would be out of work or had to retire.

How would I go about receiving benefits for being native american? I know nothing of the process. My mother was born in Canada. I'm not sure if she was French Canadian Indian and whom was what tribe. I just know now my grandmother claims Mohawk, Turtle tribe.
