I've heard good things of the V1, but still prefer the Escort 8500 X50. No matter the choice one makes, these make great investments and will save your bacon!

$399 for the basic unit...extra for remote display, case, etc. No scramblers, because (1) they are illegal and (2) they are as bogus as snake oil.

I have the Passport 8500x50 for me and an 8500 for my wife.... NO tickets at all since I started using escort back in high school (uh hemm 1983). Anyway, the V1 is good too, either one will save your arse BIG TIME.

Preach on!

I recall that you were trying to decide on which detector to buy a couple of months ago. Welcome to the V1 admiration society!

Part of my deal to buy my GTO was for the dealer to have my Valentine 1 hard-wired into the car. I've owned Escorts and Bel's and there's no substitute for driving with the arrows!

That's so awesome how did you get them to do that? When I get my new 06 I need to look into that being done.

Without Employee Pricing on the '06, you should be ready to negotiate hard on price and "other" items like tint, your radar dectector, oil changes, etc.

I bought my car during the Employee Pricing offer in June when the GTO was included. I told them that since we didn't have price to haggle over, and I wasn't trading anything in to haggle over, that they had to be willing to throw in something for me to buy from them instead of me looking for the same car at the same price somewhere else.

They wanted me to give them a deposit (the car was on its way to FLA from the dock in California.)

I said, "sure, if you agree to tint my windows and hardwire my radar detector."

Since they contract out the window tinting with a local stereo/tint shop, they agreed to do both and the deal was done. I'm sure that it didn't cost them nearly what it would have cost me for the tint job and the same shop had quoted me $20 to hardwire my Valentine in my '99 GTP (which a buddy of mine did for free) earlier this year.

Very small "gives" for them that had big value to me .... and they got to close a sale.
