Volt.

Anyone hear about the new concept car? The Chevrolet volt.
I'm Not big on the electric car thing but this one caught my eye.
40-45 miles on a charge, can go 120 mph, and a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder diesel (for charging of the batteries only). I guess it gets 45-50 mpg if the engine is running.

The hybrid concept is cool, especially since it's diesel. But if it actually looked like that thing, I know it won't, I could never own one. It looks like the car version of a hobbit or some sh*t.

why don't they put a mini turbine in it like a train or something to give it a "cool" high tech look instead of putting a piston motor in it. how long would the battery take to recharge? i'd almost take on but i bet maintenance would be a serious pain on a high order.

I think its a cool idea. The fact that the engine is only used to charge the batteries is an idea that has been around for a long time. The only thing im concerned about is the cost of the battery packs. Ive heard some horror stories about the high cost of the battery packs installed in these type of vehicles.
