68-70 gto

i'm looking for a project 68-70 GTO, i have looked everywhere for one and have only found one car buyer sold it before i could get to South Carolina. It can be rough, doesn't have to have a motor or trans, as long as it isn't ate up with rust. I came here because i have had no luck with craigslist or Facebook i am a huge classic pontiac fan and im hoping some of you can help me find one. I'm located on the eastern side of the country so please try to keep it around there if possible. Tennessee, Georgia, Kentucky, Ohio, NC, SC. Anywhere through there again thank you for your time.

If you want a real, rust free GTO body, be prepared to shell out big bucks. IMO, they are way overpriced.

If I wanted a '68-'72, I'd look for a good Tempest or Lemans. Then later on you can add some GTO parts.

Don't have a clue if any of these cars are still for sale, or not.

Well, there are many more on this site. Again, don't know if any are still for sale or not.

i know i won't find something rust free, i don't care to replace quarters, trunk and floors but it's just a process of even finding a real GTO that's a project. I have looked for close to 2 years and i am starting to think they aren't any out there. I have looked at lemans and temptests but still haven't had much luck.

Yeah, there are still some out there. But, there are lots of cars guys who know what they're worth. So, anything worth restoring ain't cheap. Most guys nowadays say you'll usually come out better buying an older resto, that don't need much work. Some owners are now old enuff that they'll let 'em go, if they don't have any kids who want 'em.

pinion head, on this site, always knows where the cheapest Pontiac stuff is. Maybe you could send him a PM, and he could help you locate something.

You inspired me to "window shop" and I found this. https://classics.autotrader.com/clas...mans/100825725 located in Northern Michigan. Can't tell much from picts - but does not look like a bad place to start. Also - you don't see many of those. Best wishes and good hunting!

That seller is a "middle man." He posts a ton of cars for sale, but he does not own them. He must use some kind of internet grab program that scours the internet for cars for sale and then posts them up on his website for sale at a higher price. He had the '73 Fury I purchased 2 hours away from Charlotte, NC (not in Cadillac, Michigan) on his website for about 2K more. You have to go through him to ask questions or get additional pics and he then gets the answers/pics from the seller and then arranges for shipment to you if you want to purchase.

There are other cars for sale listings which do the same thing. They have photos/descriptions up of cars that are long gone so it makes their site look like it has a ton of cars. I've emailed for more info on a few and you get not response on the car because it is no longer available even though the ad is still up - just like these internet dating sites, a ton of profiles of people who are no longer available to make the website look like it has a ton of eligible singles so you "sign up" and pay for the service to surf the profiles and find yourself being very disappointed, but they got your money and the profiles you thought looked available in your area really weren't.......ask me how I know. Bait & switch. LOL

Are you only considering a GTO?
I have a 1970 LeMans Sport Convertible restoration project that I have to sell due to an upcoming move. PM if you are interested.
