History
Originally Owned & Purchased by my Dad's Neighbor, Mrs. Winifred Burke of Jackson Michigan. It only left Jackson twice during Mrs Burke's ownership, and she was proud of the fact that she never exceeded 35 miles per hour while she drove it. My Dad purchased Betsy from Mrs Burke in the early 80s, with only about 13 or 14,000 miles on the odometer, with me in mind as I was also a 65 'model'. As Mrs Burke did, my Dad also garage kept her, and when my wife and I built our current house in 1997, Dad instructed me to come pick up Betsy cause he needed the room ! In the 20 years that she has been physically with us, we've not yet put 2000 miles on her and the odometer is still in the 23,xxx range. (We just take her to car shows and I would occasionally drive her into work on pretty days)
Other than a short period of time when an Ex brother in law borrowed her during a summer in the late 80s or early 90s (they were down a car) Betsy has been garage kept her entire life. She is NOT perfect, and has a few small dings about her. However, 99 percent of Betsy is the way she rolled off the manufacturing floor. Paint was redone when my Dad got her from Mrs Burke, but kept the same color. The copper in the radiator had sprung one to many leaks, and I got the original re-cored about 5 or 10 years back, and I did replace 1 brake line a few years back as it was not holding pressure. The biggest 'flaw' as I call it, is that same dang ex brother in law hauled lumber in her one day and punched a fist sized hole in the other wise PERFECT headliner .. grrr !..
