History
Been in the family for 37 years or so - was the "family car" - bought it when I turned 18.
1969 Pontiac Tempest (Red)

Modifications

Drivetrain
'67 400 w/ 4X-7 heads. Holley 750. Comp Cams XE274H cam. '69 timing cover, water pump, harmonic balancer, and pulleys. Aluminum radiator w/ dual 14" electric fans. TH400 w/ Stage II mods & 2400 stall convertor.
Interior
Not trying to make a GTO clone - no one was making repop interiors for Tempests (and no bucket seat upholstery for Tempests). '68 console w/ Dual Gate shifter (wood grain insert sanded and painted black). Firebird Rallye gauges w/ repro dash tach. Painted the needle in the 160 mph speedo to match the other gauges. Tilt steering column - will add stitched leather wheel cover soon. Suede dash cover. Aftermarket heat & A/C.
Exterior
Work in progress - still working out all of the "kinks" - bumper is not Endura - it is fiberglass from VFN fiberglass, laid "extra thick" for "street use". It was reinforced with the backing steel from the original chrome bumper. Grilles are original '69 Tempest that have been modified to fit. GTO hood w/ open scoops. GTO valance. Judge wing. Original Tempest tail light lenses were cracked, so I replaced them with a set from a LeMans.
Audio
None yet - probably go with a standard in-dash unit w/ 3.5" 2 way speakers in the dash center, 5.25" 2 or 3 way speakers in the kick panels, 8" round 3 way speakers in the rear deck, and a single 12" sub box and amps mounted in the trunk against the back of the rear seat. Probably won't really listen to it very loud though...
Suspension
Mostly stock as of right now - plans to go tubular arms front and rear as the finances allow. Quick ratio power steering. Power 4 wheel disc brakes. Auburn differential w/3.36 gears. Front adjustable coil overs.
Wheel and Tire
15"x7" Pontiac Rallye II wheels w/ 235/60-15 TA Radials on all corners. Wasn't what I was going to do - but when I saw them listed on Craigslist for $600.00 I couldn't pass them up.
