Hi all,

as someone hoping to enter the Pontiac community I have found a nice listing in my area for a 2004 GTO. As I do more research and gather more info, I hope to become a more educated buyer.

Attached is the listing—my questions are as follows:

Is this worth the price? What are the best things to look for and dead giveaways for issues?

Thank you!

Did you hear back from them? Price seems really low...compared to those on ebay. Is the title clean? Check out ebay and compare notes.

The car looks sweet and clean. LS1 has high mileage, but they'll run forever. Most importantly, it doesnt look like he chopped and hotrodded it.

As for what to look for when searching?
  1. Aftermarket air cleaners, K&N, CAI, etc.
  2. Aftermarket mufflers or exhaust.
  3. MSD spark plugs wires or coils.
All indicate that the owner was looking for more performance, so likely drove it like he stole it and raced it.

Paint spray underneath and tape lines in paint, indicate that it was in an accident and had paint and body work done.

Standard used car buying rules apply. Look for regular oil changes!

Yes it's a GTO, not a whole heck of a lot of Pontiac in it, though. Probably a good age to pick one up and do all of the preventative maint. Bearings, seals, fluids.

Yes I think now is the time to buy 04 to 06 goats. I have a good feeling they will increase in value. Agree with army to go with one without modification adult driven and taken care of👍

As a proud owner of a 04 gto purchased from car max in Dec, 2014 with 22k on it. I have been giddy since the purchase. However I had some apprehension with such low mileage. We about two years in, I found out mechanically there were issues, trans replaced (fortunate had a specialist here in Cali who actually builds trans) and paid a nice price. One thing I recommend have $ on hand to r & r parts bc you will have to do maintenance if you enjoy driving it. From there I have replaced, heads, exhaust, air filter, front end, all in all have invested bout 8k in it yo include cosmetic but it's mine and I love it. All the power I need , smooth and gets the looks. If you have $ to invest it will not let you down. They hear it and backed down on the streets.
