Just acquired a 1966 Lemans that has a 1974 400 ci motor and 2 speed auto. I want to switch to a 4 speed and was wondering if any one knows the specs on the 1966 body and matching with the 1974 drive train? Any differences that would make the switch impractical?

I don't think you're going to have any issues. My car is a 70, had a 400 out of a 74 and a Saginaw close ratio 4 speed from the late 70's (I think it was from an F body car) when I bought it years ago. Only things you may run into depend on what year 4 speed you use. They have different output shaft sizes and tail shaft lengths. Also, if you your car has a floor shift you will need to make a new hole and cover the old one. Ames sells the shifter panel for the floor.

Not sure where you are located but I still have the Saginaw. It would need new seals before it went back in a car but was otherwise pretty decent. I would only deal locally on it though.
