I posted this as a follow-up to an earlier question but it didn't seem to get noticed so I'm posting it here as a new topic. Don't accuse me of cross posting or any of that stuff.

I have another driveshaft question. The last time I put a universal in a big, American car, the retainer clips fit into grooves near the outside of the yoke. So the cups were inset the distance of the width of the clips plus a little a few MM l for strength.

The manual shows the retainer clips going on the universal joint itself, inside the yoke and the cups. The cups are pressed in from outside the yoke and just kind of sit there, held in by friction I guess. The clip placement might keep the joint from going past the inside edge of the yoke but what keeps the cup from popping out the end of the yoke?

Posting the question in the '04 - '06 section wont get you much for answers if anything. Since you have a '69, it needs to be posted in the '64 - '74 sections......
