I was out on RT 23 in the early evening at a red light and a new BMW M6 coupe pulls up.The guy tells me it has a V10 500 hp.I figured that i'm going to get killed real bad.We took off and i pulled him in first and second by a fender then i hit the rev limiter and he had me.After that at the next light i told him i have only about 415-420hp up front 357rwhp and he didn't seem to believe me. I have LT headers,CAI, tuned, 342 gears and a 6 speed. If i didn't hit the rev limiter I'm shure that it would have been a dead heat.Win some loose some. Not trying to make excuses but i fk up not watching the tach. LT:(

wonder if he had it set for 500hp mode? good run never the less! there's something about them c5's they can take a lot of cars with far less power!

My guess is he did have it in 500 hp mode.

That something about C5's and Corvettes is weight. LT's Vette weighs 3300 lbs. The M6, and this is just a guess, is probably 700 lbs heavier. The M6 needs 70 hp to be equal with the Vette in power to weight.

Figure the Vette at 415 hp and the BMW needs 485 hp to be equal. The BMW with 500 has a slight edge. The 15 hp one way or the other makes it a drivers race. LT won the drivers race till he hit the rev limiter.

Nice. Was it a 6M or the 7spd SMG? I can see running with a 6M or beating it. 7spd SMG would be less likely unless he pulled his fingers too soon (short shifting).

Pretty sure it was a auto. I didnt say that i beat him. Out of the hole i had him in first and second gear and i hit the rev limiter and it was all over. I was pretty surprised myself cause i spun the wheels and had him to about 75-80.

No automatic M5s but the SMG 7spd I guess could be perceived that way when watching the car shift.
