I read in the manual about the 2nd gear skip if the coolant reaches 165*. Has anyone other than me noticed that once in a while while shifting from 1st to 2nd the stick shift wont go in 2nd gear unless you depress the clutch and try it again? It slides right into 4th easy, but It does this without the skip shift grid appearing on the dash. Anyone else experience this?

That's put there by GM to avoid a gas guzzler tax. when the car is warmed up, and you're on the gas lightly in 1st, and you're between certain rpms, it locks you out of 2nd. this has been on corvettes for years, and it's on the gto. spend $14 and get a little solenoid that disables this from one of the corvette places online like i did and then you wont' have to worry about it again. there's lots of info about this, just search for "skip skift"

Thanx for the info! I did notice when I am over 20 mph it doesn't do it. I appreciate the information.

Yup just get the Corvette CAGS bypass unit it takes longer to put in the air than to install the harness. Do not try to force inta 2nd if it is functional as it will screw up tranny .
