My 65 headliner was pulled out when I bought it.I will be installing a new headliner.my issue is it looks as if the front to rear, and side to side braceing rails have been pulled down.My question is dose the top brace rail going from front to back supost to be Laing against the ceiling top and is the side to side rail supost to be connected to the top rail?my front to back rail is about 1/4 inch from ceiling my side to side rail is about 1/4 inch away from top rail.any help will be appreciated...and if anyone has pictures of the way they are supost to be they would be a big help

Thanks for your time

That all sounds about right.
The support bracing isn't right against the roof panel,
in fact you may find/see dabs of panel bonding in spots.
If you want to gauge the radius just install the headliner bows and this will show you if any are possibly low.

Originally they used the glued on fibrous insulating padding similar if not the same as the stuff under top of dash.
The stuff that disintegrates into powder if sneezed on ;)
Scrape all that crap off, clean the underside and use a good peel & stick type product for sound/heat.
