I have a 66 Convertible. Just got it recently and it starts and idles fine, but when it first starts there is a hesitation, then it fires up, almost as it needs more juice to get going. It is a 389 tri power. Battery shows 12.6 volts before starting. Battery is 670 CCA. Is that enough?

That should be enough battery. If when cracking it's hesitating (crankshaft stopping or almost stopping) then it sounds like the timing might be too far advanced. I have to retard my timing from normal settings with the lower octane fuels we have now.

Thanks Rukee. I think you nailed it. I just advanced the timing some and it seemed to be running OK. No diesling but there is a bit too much "clunk" shifting. I was going to back it down. It's around 6 now.
