I was told the Valance opening was larger on the 69 GTO because the 69 had the option of A/C, is that true? If so does anyone know the Valance area/size of the 69?

Welcome to the forum.

All '64 and later GM A bodies had AC as a factory option. Several factory high performance engine options and low ger ratio rearend options excluded one ordering from ordering factory AC, but all of the rest of the factory powertrains could be ordered with factory AC.

On the valance differences, it all came own to a change in styling. All '68 Pontiacs used a style of wrap around parking light in their valances. The big cars and A body's used a very similar turn signal/parking light lense. The Firebirds also wrapped around, but their lens was slightly smaller. On the '69's, the stylist's revised the outer ends of the GTO valances with the oval "bomb sight" turn signal lamps and added a small round marker light on the wrap around side of the valance. The slots outboard of the front license plate area of ecah valance were very similar in size between the two years...hope this helps.

Thank You. That helps, I was looking at pictures of the 68 and 69 and the Valance looked larger on the 69's so that was the reason for the question and the story I was told.
