Can anyone help me value a numbers matching 70 gto convertible, 400ci, 4 speed, factory ac. The cars engine, tranny, suspension were all redone recenently but the car needs interior, some bodywork, and paint of course. I was offered a straight up trade for 73 charger thats runs and looks good. If anyone can shed some light on the subject i'd really appreciate it, thanks.

Interior, bodywork, and paint, done to the quality of the original GM issue, will run you about 30,000 dollars. Add the purchase price of the car to that and you have your total cost. Nice, ready to go '70 GTO 4 speed ragtops can be had in the 25-40k range all day long. The car you describe, as it sits, is probably worth 8-12k, if there is no rust repair. So, if you paid 12k, figure on having about 42k into it before it's 'done'. Always cheaper to buy a finished car over a project. The reason most of us undertake projects is because we want to for the challenge and satisfaction, but certainly not to make money.
