So I have my 64 on the road now and I started thining what about an alarm for the car. I certainly want to protect my investment so I searched through the forums to see if there were any posts on this topic but didn't find one.

So my question is what is everyone doing to secure their old GTO's?

I like the way you think. When i wired the car I did the kill switch which helps. I too have .45, .357, 9MM or numerous others for added protection. At home I have it parked in an alarmed garage so no worries there. My concern is when I'm out with the car and walk away. I was just wondering if anyone uses an actual alarm or am I just over thinking this?

Alarms are ignored by everyone, and I consider them a nuisance. That said, I use a hidden kill switch to the ignition and "The Club". I also have full coverage theft insurance for the real replacement value of the cars.

funny enough, you don't hear of these cars getting stolen much. And yes get your insurance for full replacement value. Will you be down at the Dreamcruise next weekend? I will be at the south bound loop on Widetrack drive, the Pontiac club gets the whole east side parking lot and will let you in for a nominal fee or if you become a member.

Get a photo of me with it, anyway.

I've thought about that when parking in a lot, but then stop and realize that it would be a muther to steal it and then "blend" into traffic. Every head would be snapping to get a glimpse, and its movements would be well documented. (It seems). How about a hidden gps device with a tracking app? Follow them suckers right to their stinking house?

I've never been to the Dream Cruise but did plan to be there on a weeknight if nothing more. I've heard the weekend is pretty busy and hard to get around. So become a member of the Pontiac Club??? I hadn't heard about is until now.

I agree, I love my locks and caps I got from Alky :)

I also agree that most people tend to ignore alarms... but I have considered adding a Lojack for classics to mine, and may do it yet.

I'm not sure how effective a remote kill switch would be on my particular car. With the HEI, all it takes is one simple jumper to the battery to enable the ignition, one more to kick the starter over. In my case I'd have to also have a way to lock the hood shut.
