My battery light came on 3 months ago. The battery seems fine as long as you run the car once a month. Can a defective voltage regulator cause the battery light to come on.

Also the diode trio can trip the light. Take it to autozone and let them check it out. Nice thing about the old cars is the parts are cheap unless you want the originals rebuilt, then still cheap if you can find a kit.
