This was yesterday on the way to San Jose 280s.

Dark titanium with smoked out tails and tinted windows all around.

I was minding my own business and what looks like a late model Passat comes flying up on my NSX (I get this all the time with cars wanting to see my NSX and what it can do, etc.) and does a flybye.

I ignored him since it wasn't my normal diet.

A few miles up he slows down and just tailgates me. Annoying.

So I took the bait and let him have it.

I beat him by a bus length on 280 going 120MPH, but by the time we hit the 101 I slowed down due to heavy (Sunday drivers) traffic.

Of course he was upset about losing to what he probably thought was a stock NSX with some riced out spoiler and does another flybye as 280 turned into 680.

On my last race, judging by the distance and speed that I beat a stock V-8 M3 I will have to say that this VW must have a superior power to weight ratio to the M3. He was modified for sure. I really don't know anything about VW modes. Perhaps someone can chime in.

I keep surprising these guys. Last time was a supercharged 350Z that my normally aspirated NSX buddy baited.

I was at the grocery store yesterday and there was a Girlscout there selling cookies. She was suprisingly strong and I had a hard tme taking the box off of her.

Just kidding. You really don't think of a Passat as being trouble.

It's pretty easy to get 260-280 hp from the 2.0 turbo. I don't think that would do the trick. They have the VR6 in some and I could see someone swapping in the R32 motor and driveline. There is also the ability to get Audi S4 and RS4 powertrains from wrecked cars and fit those into the Passout.

I gotta give the Passat credit for sleeper status. I love a good sleeper.

Only V-Dub I've ever tangoed with was the GTI. A guy at work has a 2006 that I have raped a time or two. But he starts it and takes it in good fun. There are 2 NSXs that I've seen a few times at the local Friday night cruise ins. They always drive in pairs and I've never seen them race. A chick drives one of them. They are both of the Asian persuasion, couldn't tell what country of origin. I've never seen them talk to anybody else there so I've never gone out of my way to go up and talk to them.

Thanks.

I like to make cars look the way they should have from the factory.

Here's a previous car that I had:

R36 Passat? Similar to the R32, which is a hopped up AWD GTI with an interesting VR6 engine. Or maybe the older W8-engined Passat which was a testbed for the W12 that went into the Phaeton and Audi A8 and eventually the famous W16 in the Veyron.

Otherwise it probably would have been a Passat hopped up on boost.

the exhaust was stock sounding and looking. this car really was a sleeper even in the exhaust dept.

I'm guessing it was a 4 banger with the boost cranked up and/or aftermarket turbos with boost cranked up.

It had to be to be faster than the E92 M3, which is about the same as the 5.0 mustang.
