I am wondering how you all are feeling.

I get under 10 responses to my questions on the average and I honestly do not review all the post myself.

I don't see other forums doing a snap job either. What are the faults?
No congruity to a system. How to research topics is poor- thats why redundant questions are asked. Systems feedback is poor.
The Super moderators need to step up and ....Moderate.

What do I expect?
More fluidity
More Camaraderie
More of what got me here.
It just seems....not as good.

I know Rex- but I love this site and it is truly my thoughts thats that make me ask this this question. There is room for improvement here so if others can see that and contribute, the site will only improve.

There is nothing wrong with you feeling the way you do but you should understand that someone being a Moderator or Super Moderator does not mean that they have the answer to every question. I know I don't know everything therefore I don't answer some of the questions asked. GTO Judge, EEZGoat, Rukee, 05GTO and GM4life may know more in one field than I do and vice versa.

Here is the forum definition of a Moderator;

Moderators oversee specific forums. They generally have the ability to edit and delete posts, move threads, and perform other manipulations. Becoming a moderator for a specific forum is usually rewarded to users who are particularly helpful and knowledgeable in the subject of the forum they are moderating.

We're not assigned to specific forums. We all have a right to manipulate any forum. IHMO, I feel that we've helped more people than we haven't helped. Plenty of times when we don't have the answer(s) we've posted links from other sites that may contain the answers or something similar. I honestly wouldn't attempt to give you an answer to something I'm not sure about. I've helped quite a few members out when it came to Maggie questions because I have experience installing them. I've gone as far as sending a member parts at no price (PDQ GTO - Rich). I've offered to install a Maggie for a member at no cost. I've helped other members who live close to me install parts on their cars as well as getting help on mine from members here (bluhaven - Brenda and Kevin and GM4life - Justin). Even as a Super Moderator I've had to go to other forums that have more members than ours to seek answers that I couldn't find here and still couldn't get the answer I needed. Then from there I just take it to the internet and find what I was looking for.

So please understand that there may be times that we just don't know what the answer is. I think that is fair enough.

I know Rex- but I love this site and it is truly my thoughts thats that make me ask this this question. There is room for improvement here so if others can see that and contribute, the site will only improve.
That is very true and I think that improvement is always a good thing. I think this forum does have a lot of contributing members such as fergyflyer, svede1212, exwrx, scg87, Forensic Steve, blubeast and plenty more that I can't think of at the moment. I know those guys have helped me understand quite a few things about my car and other cars.

GTO's are fading away, been out of production for 3 years now. Guys either only drive them on weekends, or have another car they are modding now and daily driving there Goats. Sign of the times. Just gotta hang on long enough for the other GTO forums to fade away and then you benefit from the new blood!

I've been through a bunch of cars and a bunch of forums.

LS1.com, corvetteforum, SVTforum, ls1gto.com, and others I can't even remember. These all related to cars that I owned at the particular time I belonged. I've left all of them.

I still visit LS1.com now that I have the Camaro. I visit the corvetteforum for the political parts and because I love the Corvette. But this is my main forum. The quality of the people here is a notch above. You never get a negative comment about asking a question that was asked before. I hate forums that someone says use search when someone asks a new to the poster question.

I hope it stays the same and congrats to the mods for keeping this an interesting place to visit and respectfully communicate with other enthusiasts.

Groups have met up in the Northeast and the West seems to be a tight knit group. There is definately a friendly caring atmosphere here.

Sorry Rasp, I disagree with you on this one.

I just recently came back to the forum. I was only away because life events took me away. (Some pretty serious ones at that) I saw people come and go, but this place is always good. I help when I can, and listen in when someone else does.

I too, disagree with you.

I lay blame on the number of categories. There seems to be a magic number of categories for every forum. I'd say this one has gone overboard by a dozen or more, 29 different discussion categories, not counting vendors or help. Why separate intake and exhaust and engine discussion? I’ve only looked in a couple of sections, perhaps 3 or 4 out of all 29. But most importantly when I’m “just checking in” I only check one, General Discussion, but of course, there isn’t anything there, because every topic related to GTOs, cars, or even off topic rants from work… All have another place. So I move on to another car forum.

Great responses which puts another huge hole in my post. Personally, I have had all of my GTO questions answered here. One moderator went as far as to speak with me on the phone to assist me installing HID's.

I've had many PM's that I hoped to help others as well.

I belong to several forums, but this is the only one I visit at least once a day. My words may have been originally too strong- had a real bad day at work.
I love this site and will continue to be part of it.

Thank you all for your responses, honest opinions, and decorum.

Came on here back in 04 while I was looking for info on the new GTO that was coming out. Don't post much but check in all the time. This is a more docile forum which is good. I do not need to be dumped on by others when I ask a simple question as on other forums. This is a good place.

It seems to me that here when you ask a question, you eventually get dome very nice answers...other places you might get 10 smart aleck answers followed up with several "do the search" which add to the post count but don't do anything to answer what you were asking in the first place...I also believe some of the frustration comes from using the internet we have become dependent (to a degree at least) to get answers right away...if we don't get answers to our query within 24 hours we feel ignored when in fact the planets may have not yet aligned...stick around...we'll get you your answers...inna minit...:D

This is a very good forum and some of the guys mentioned above, like Rukee, geeteeohguy, 05GTO, Eric Animal, Judge and others have freely shared their knowledge with me and others. I can tell you the information I have learned on this website went into the recent work I had done on my 1967 GTO and allowed me to better understand what to do. Good stuff on this forum, Raspy, have to disagree with your original post. The only problem I have seen on this forum is when I get out of control with politics. Anyway, hang in there.......... :cheers

Wow. Bored? By reading that post I cannot help but think the MODS are to blame for this boring site. I joined this site after I ordered my 05. I learned quite a bit from the group that was on here at the time. I also joined up with the "other" site. I found that site intuitive as well. LOTS of good folks at that time eager to help. As the years pass new blood comes on board and with that sometimes drama, and the I know it all attitudes. I choose to hang out here, why?

As the years go by and you are here long enough you'll notice a whole NEW group of people joining, (while many who no longer have there car leave) mostly young guys who have NO clue on this type car and are seeking advice. One thing that remained is the laid back camaraderie type atmosphere. I don't see one poster trying to out due another poster. I don't see "Top Guns" on here thinking they have all the answers and then lambaste others because their advice was not on par with theirs. I DO NOT see a combative site here between members. I see it on other sites and I see the "duels" between others.

What you don't see on here is a lot or nonsense posts. Take a look at some other sites and look at some of the moronic posts. Most posts on this site are relevant to this car not some dog taking a crap on the carpet then posting pictures of it then taking a pole to see it their kid will step in it.

This site caters to the classics as well as the new age GTO. MOST other sites don't. With that comes a more mature group of guys who still have their classics. Combine that with 18-25 year olds you're gonna have a more diverse group. There is an age mix here unlike other forums. Boring? How many young guys know the heritage of their car? You'll find it here. How many older guys have no idea on the new GTO? You'll find it here. This isn't FACE BOOK its a GTO site. Does it get boring at times? Yea. But is it boring to a guy who is desperately trying to find an answer to a question? NO.

We have an archive that is there for people to search for answers. When the same question is asked over and over again, it gets answered. The poster is NOT scrutinized, lambasted, and made fun of if they neglect to do a search UNLIKE other forums I have seen. Sometimes its just easier to ask.

WE are NOT experts on these cars, we share advice and try our best to help. If we can't we can't. More people on this site have been helped than haven't.

As far as MODS stepping up and MODING.... We ban people many times before you can see what they posted. WE don't brag about it as I have seen on other sites. Generally when someone becomes a nuisance on here they are PM'd and are reasoned with, its their choice to remain a nuisance and its our responsibility to escort them to the door. Some keep making new names and challenging us and we RESEARCH IP addresses etc and ban them again to keep many from offending, or pissing off others.

I stay on this site because of the way its run. If I want drama I will go to other sites.

I just hit the new post button and see what is going on now. Then, look into the older posts to see responses to older questions. I try to check the zero reply posts to see if I can answer, or respond to it so someone else may see it, so questions don't go unanswered. This is a great forum with some very knowledgeable members.

I'll give you guys a newbie perspective.

I've been a member of many different car forums, from Mazdas, to Hondas, to Tahoes, to Camaros. Some of them were better than others, but with the exception of one of those, they all have members who seem to only want to make themselves feel better at the expense of others. Or they really don't have an answer, but in order to boost their post count they post some lame response that is of no benefit to anyone.

I've only been a member here for a matter of days, but I like what I've seen so far. People seem to be helpful when they can, and I haven't seen any trolls or bullys here. I am accustomed to a little more activity in a forum, but I'll gladly trade that for a more civilized atmosphere and members who truly want to help others out.

Anyway, I just wanted to let you guys know what a new guy thinks of this forum.:D

If for no other reason, I sign in once a week to check out the excellent avatars. Of course, when I want to see a GTO, I just go to my garage.

I have to say this forum is still the best. I have been without my beloved goat going on one year now and still check in to see what has been going on. I belong to GM Truck forum and still dont get the love like I do here. I've met some of the guys on here at different events and have sold alot of them some parts off the ole girl. Ive met members, moderators, two different GTO Clubs and can say they are a great special group of people. Ofcourse, Im not as active without having a GTO anymore but still chime in here and there. I come onto the sight more than what one may think, even at work without actually logging in.

No matter what I drive I will always be a GTO fan and a fan of this forum. I do plan grabbing yet another Pontiac before the last are built in 2010. I'm still leaning towards a G8. Would love to have the Firehawk G8, but only 500 gonna be made and too much money for my blood right now with everything else going on.

Anyway, back to the post topic! Heres is one for the best forum I belong too!!!:cheers

for a "newer car" type forum. I think this one is very good. this is not bickering and infighting that go on with other forums

sometimes it takes a little longer to get an answer you are looking for, but I think it's worth.

you might get more responses on other forums, but if you really look at the quality of the content on them, it is really just a bunch of B.S. that makes them look busier

that's what lounges, or off topic sections are supposed to be used for. I can honestly says that I've never even visited that area on this forum
