You know it is funny that C&D in past has thumbed their nose at the GTO --- yet they post this article suggesting that NOW you can possibly compete with the GTO..... Take a look at the last paragraph on page 2.

Wait a second... GTO beater? If we go back to that much contested comparo (and dropped the retarded "gotta have it portion") you get (ACCORDING TO C&D) an inferior chassis design (solid axle), inferior interior, and a just plain inferior car, that now barely matches the GTO in performance. So for the same price as the GTO, you get a worse car with no warranty, that is JUST as fast as a GTO. Sweet!! hahaha

"For Mustang fans, maybe the most important thing is that with this blower kit there's no need to hide from that $33,690 Pontiac GTO that can hit 60 mph in 4.8 and run the quarter in 13.3 at 107 mph."

You might have to hide after paying 52k for that car. I wonder how fast the GTO would be after putting 24K into the motor?

Man they Always do this kinda crap on Magazines I rememer in a old MOTOR TREND They matched up a Stock 1998 Camaro SS and a 1998 ROUSH Stage III Mustang, Now how fair is that? Straight Engine vs. A stage III Blown Engine, the funny thing is the mustang had the camaro 0-60 but 70 and up the camaro blew it away. I always wanted them to race it against an INTIMIDATOR SS or a LINGENFELTER SS or Even the 600hp 2003 ZL-1 Super car. And now they are trying to pull it on the GOAT. Let us Build up a goat that's blown to match that and You would already know what the outcome would be:mad:

When I finally realized we live in a country where one can only go as fast as the mommy in a minivan (yeah it was a while ago, change that to SUV) putting on her makeup (add and talking on the cell phone) in front of you, I stopped scrutinizing those numbers.

I had the RX7 GSL-SE/Porsche 944 numbers memorizied in 85. Yes, the RX7 for half the price turned the same numbers in the back of R&T. Woo hoo.

Now they are just old sports cars. I had six RX7s in the past and have one 944 today.

We need a category called "liveability". which is easier to live with every day?

Wait a sec, they say that a csc'd 05 GT will go 0-100 in 11.3 seconds, but does the 1/4 in [email protected]? Either this kit suck's up top or C&D can't drive for sh!t.

No slant towards the GT though, that is a sweet car!

Well I guess I would buy a new GTO if I could afford it .I was and am still disapointed with the pregnant caviler look the GP has a lot better look . When I was in Baltimore this spring at the Motor Trend Show I did a radio interview on the Classic GTO and the regional sales rep did the new one . I had a good time talking to him told him my personal disapointment in the new gto .The market they would have killed in was my age group . If they had retroed to a comb of the 5 6 7 body and mover forward from there there wouldn't still be 04s sitting on lots new / there is still an 04 on the local lot a black 6 speed . I told him Ford was going to kill them in sales with the retro stang and they did . I am not and never have been a stang person . Car for car the GTO is twice the car the stang is . You just have to get past the exterior . That's just my feelings the 05 is better with the hood and the rear dual exhaust . 65 and 67 I think were the best styled but I wouldn't give up my original 64 tri power 4 speed convert just because I don't like the looks so I guess I could live with an 04 when I can afford one . I loved that last paragraph in C& D though.

Good post.... That is one nice GTO you have there.

Question for you: If I am not mistaken, didn't the "Car Magazines" in 1964 originally complain that the GTO was just a suped-up tempest. with an exotic car name.... but later after they saw the REAL performance, started changing their story and by 1966 and on, it "WAS THE CAR TO HAVE". Sounds to me like history is just repeating itself.

I'm letting all my car magazine subscriptions except Automotive News run out. Fortunately, Car and Driver is already gone. All I want is news about automotive products -- not a bunch of tink yanking from idiots like Csaba Csere, Brock Yates and Patrick Bedard.
