cooling question 66 GTO
Which Robert Shaw Thermostat should I use 160 or 180 ?
I have a 428 1968 engine w/tri power
I purchased a aluminum radiator
Has any one used a antifreeze additive?
Where can I purchase a shroud for my alum radiator?
Also has anyone ever tried vinegar/water to flush radiator system?
Appreciate any help in getting my GTO to run cool!

I'm having the same issue with mine. I'm going to install a Flow Kooler water pump with a Robert Shaw high flow thermostat from the same company. Still deciding on what aluminum radiator to buy and whether to go with a downflow or crossflow. I understand the latter cools better. At any rate, I also plan to buy a radiator with shrouded electric fans and go with 50/50 mix antifreeze. Hope this helps.

I use a 160 Robert Shaw from flow cooler with my 461 engine. Runs about 180 down the road. flow cooler pump as well.

See my posting which bear made a sticky about flushing your coolant system with “Thermocure” stuff is great and will help cooling, even a thin film of rust, and we all get it, inhibits heat transfer.

I use 50/50 distilled water is best as half or just buy the premix 50/50

Anti -freeze already has rust inhibitors, that is what the additives do. Some guys use water wetter, a product by Redline. I don’ t use it but every other thing by Redline is first rate and works. I wouldn’t use it unless you need too. But you may have too
