while I have my dash bezel, gauges, and switches out for restoration I want to sand and repaint the metal dash face, top under the windshield, and glovebox door, all black. can anyone help me out with what paint I'm supposed to use? is the glove box door and front panel a higher gloss than the top or is it all the same? satin? semi? gloss? any help would be much appreciated.

I am currently doing that same thing and using John Deere Blitz Blk. If you have a John Deere Dealer local to you, check it out. It is a satin finish. I am not doing a perfect restoration, just what 40 years of trial and error has taught me with an eye to the wallet.

You can buy it in spray cans or quarts.
