Flavors? Do you lick them? What's best to get rid of road apple smell?
Although I purchased new carped and am seriously looking forward to smelling the formaldehyde, I will really miss the scent of 55 year old car

Well I sure hope that I didn't contribute to that, although I'm sure that I did. I was genuinely trying to help the guy out, and I'm sure my sarcasm didn't help. I apologize if I offended any of you guys

When someone posts a car for sale and then wants to pick a fight with everyone or insult those who comments on it, I have to question how serious they are about selling it. Did I make a mistake by cleaning it all up? Maybe, maybe not --- but you know what? The older I get, the less tolerance I have for rudeness and the less I care about what anyone else thinks. 😏

Bro, the exit tips are the least of anyone's concern. If you look at the rear axle, the tailpipes dip about 6 in below the axle tubes. I know it's a very popular mod to lower these cars, but I recommend trying the coil springs before the exhaust
Everyone is always bragging about the humbler option. That's not even remotely rare compared to the Howitzer tailpipe extensions
I didnt see the front. My first thought was rotiserie for you can drip dry after a wash. No Leaks in the trunk that way.

Hmmmm. What did I start? LOL I was always told, and believed, that as we aged we were to become more mellowed out and relaxed about things in general. I have found the opposite to be true - less patience, speak my mind, get fired up like a powder keg, and rake people over the coals when I feel they need an ass chewing for being ignorant or flat out stupid on things common or they should know/be able to reason out.
My first thought was the forum member looking for a 1968 GTO for his Dad, and lo and behold, up pops this car - which I found a little more than coincidental. As I posted, an original 32K car, stored inside for 30 years, no rust, should not require the extensive restoration claimed. The glove box insert was even replaced - on a 32K car? There were for me way too many red flags on this one.
If we had not had our member looking for a '68 for his Dad, and the car did not have all those red flags, I would have not posted as I did and would have appreciated the car far more. I know it may not be the "right thing" to do in picking apart a car, and I have had my pee-pee spanked over at PY and my comments pulled, but I feel that there are many uninformed buyers who are sometimes to quick to jump on a "deal" that really is no deal. And, this forum also allows some of the not-so-up-front sellers to post their wares in hopes to snare the uninformed and unsuspecting - and I hate cheats, liars, rip-off artists, and misrepresentations.
So maybe in the "For Sale" section we should include a disclaimer that says, "Post At Your Own Risk - expect ANY car for sale to be picked apart and judged by our forum members, so be accurate in your description." Then maybe this will lessen the attempts of those sneaky/slimey sellers to try and pass a turd past our members as something misrepresented as to what it is not. If it is junk, say it is junk, but if your try to skate by and say that the junk is restored to a concours quality factory original condition - you better be ready for the verbal slaughter.
Just my opinion, and I'll be damned if I am going to apologize or retract it.

If I would have been here when I was looking at my car and posted a "what do you think guys and gals" I wouldn't have the car, and probably a good thing I didn't have time to go see it in person. I did get 5k back on the deal for their lies and it gave me a car I could do what I wanted with for after the refund just under 25k and the body/paint the only part I can't do was pretty good, good enough to show and get some hardware. But man was I pissed at first finding all the things wrong and the lies they put in print.
I honestly believe that that 68 was a sweet car with massive potential, but the ad was just written horribly. The car obviously spent its life on the East coast, driving on salted roads. Anywhere undercoating was missed, was covered in rust. None of it was a deal breaker... it simply needed to be recognized.
