Well I'm back from the strip.

It rained at noon for about an hour and a half. Almost no one showed from the group that said they were going. We had a 95 5.0 Mustang GT lightly modded but tired with 150k on it, a 2001 Mustang Bullitt, a 2007 Mustang GT with a Supertuners tune, a cat back, Wide wheels with 315 tires and a K&N intake and my car with the new drag radials.

There ended up being a bunch of Mopars there plus some other interesting vehicles.

The air wasn't good. We had a DA of 1622. The humidity was high and there was a slight headwind between 6 and 8 mph.

There were 2 Orange SRT8 Challengers there. They had K&N intakes, one had a Magnaflow catback and the other had flowmaster mufflers, they both had drag radials. One was running 13.5 and the other was running 13.6 both at 105. There was a stock 300C SRT8 with drag radials running 13.6-13.7. A Viper ran a very traction limited 12.7 at 113 mph. A bunch of RT and 5.7 hemi cars ran mid to low 13's ( oops, that should be mid to low 14's) and had various mods. One that was stock was running 14.9-15.0.

The Bullitt ran a 14.6. He said on a good day he can slip into the 13's and usually runs 14.0-14.2. The 5.0 95 Mustang was able to get a 14.6 and ran a 15.2 at 94 when I ran him. The 07 Mustang, my main competition did very good. He ran a 13.69 and when I ran him he ran a 13.8 at 100.81.

I have a lid (CAI), a Magnaflow catback and a Diablosport tune. I just recently did the free ram air mod and added drag radials to it.

Take a look at my reaction times and how consistant the car was. Anyone care to bracket race me????

My guess is the track was .3-.4 slow. Those SRT8 cars modded should run a 13.1 or 13.2. That would put me a 13.0-12.9.

The track prep was lousy so I couldn't take advantage of my Nitto DR's.

All in all it was a fun evening and I'm real happy with the consistancy of the driver and the set-up on the car. To be able to beat the SRT8 cars by 2 full tenths is a huge plus.

A couple more cars, a claimed to be stock EVO MR ran a 13.3 at 102. A 99 FRC Vette with DR's a cat-back and a Vararam intake ran 13.1 at 109. An 01 Z06 with a Vararam and Borla Stingers ran 12.7 at 111. An 04 Mustang GT with headers, intake, tune, 4.10 gears and DR's was running high 13's at 102.

No GTO's :confused

Beautiful run! Seems like some cars were doing pretty bad out there that morning, while others were topping expectations. I'd expect the FRC to do a little bit better, also the stock evo had a pretty nice run, did you happen to catch his 60'?

I was at the strip last Sunday with my stock 99 Vette Hatch on street tires- 315s and ran a best 8.64 @ 83.99 1/8th. GTO LS-2 ran a best 8.89 @ 86.74 w/traction issues. Can the goats run the 13.0s claimed on stock tires or do they have to have suspension and DRs?

Another friend had a 150 shot goat running 7.2s all day long, he is real fast.
I had a callout race against a 03 Mach 1 with 4.11s and bolt ons, I won.
We have a Cobalt SS in our group, and he runs a best of 9.4 in the 1/8th, just threw that in for the other kill thread for the balt.

Haven't been here for a while I didn't know you picked up an F-Body. My last two F-Bodies were LS1's a 2000 Camaro SS M6 and a 2002 Camaro SS A4.

2000 was a M6 with OE SLP options which included SLP/Bilstein Suspension, Chrome SLP/ZR1 wheels, SLP Power Flo Cat-Back. It also had the GM Hurst shifter option. I added a SLP high flow Y-Pipe and SLP/Blackwing Lid and synthetic filter. On the street I ran BFG G-Force KDW and at the track BFG DR's mounted on 2002 SLP Camaro RS 16's.

2002 was A4 with no SLP options and I added SLP high flow Y-Pipe, SLP/Blackwing Lid and synthetic filter, SLP Power-Flo muffler and Diablosport tune.

My 2000 ran pretty consistant 13.0-12.8 on street tires and 12.7 on the DR's. The 2002 on street tires was around 13.2 and on DR's 13.0 the 2000 would always trap a little higher also.

glad you had fun and nice job! My only gripe about (hopefully soon) trading in my SRT for a GTO is losing the "top end" push. I don't plan on modding the GTO but man I'm doing 13.2-13.4 on street tires in my SRT but trapping 108-111mph at the end. (84-86mph in the 1/8th). Oh well small sacrifice I guess for way more torque at less throttle and an overall nicer quality riding vehicle.

Can the GTO in Florida hit those times normally? I saw a few stock ones further north (and not in winter) do the likes of 13.1 @ 107ish bone stock (including tires)...LS2 6spd's. Are you an auto or stick?

Mine is a stick and I ran 13.3 stock.

And yes I can drive the hell out of a stick :cool ha ha So im pretty sure that's all she had. It was 91 degrees out with 99% humidity that day

I had an 05 GTO. Ran a best of 12.895 at 109, but the same day I had a 110 trap speed at a slower time. It consistantly ran, in Florida heat and humidity, 13.1-13.3 at a 107 on stock street tires and with everything as it was from the factory, save two holes cut in the airbox to allow more air in.

I agree. I am going Saturday to Gainesville Raceway after I get my intake and TB ported along with a dyno tune on friday. I cant wait. Hopefully I get into the mid 12's
WS6 or the GTO?????

I might be there. If you see a white 02 Z28 with ZR1 chrome wheels on the back and Chrome 10 spoke Z28 wheels on the front, it's probably me. I'm Chuck.

SWEET! looking forward to it. I have had my WS6 for 4 years now; I just bought the Goat in November. I want to mod the hell out of the GTO

I might call my little brother and get him to drive my WS6. I really want to run the Goat after getting the mods done though... so if it somes down to it I will drive the Goat. The WS6 runs in the high 11's with the 75 shot and I ahve run it a whole bunch of times. If you have been out there you have seen it... I need some suspension and heads to make it faster. I have been trying to sell the WS6 for about half a year with no luck now to get the money to mod my Goat. I may end up keeping it and putting either SC or TC on the WS6. I will definitely look for you. January 17 is next time I am going to the track. I cant wait. It is always a good time, and especially since the weather will be decent. I am Dan.

glad to hear it's capable of some serious top end still. :)

Nice report/write-up thanks for sharing. Very interesting the 5.7 Hemis were in the mid/low 13s.

I can relate to the conditions. At Sears Point bone stock I ran a 13.3 @ 103.5mph. A I/E/canned tune CTS-V was running 13.4s/13.5s @ 104-105mph.

The track prep/conditions made DRs essentially useless, huh?

Curious, what was the distance from the parking/paddock area to the staging lights? This is a problem for SRT-8s due to the 2-3 diagnostic shift.

It sounds really funny that you are afraid of sacrificing top end by buying a GTO hahaha. Top end is what they do!

:cheers
because I have yet to see a stocker match my MPH on the track of 109-111 coupled with the fact I ran one on the street with a catback (at least...if not more like LT's but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt). It was rather loud (e.g. louder than my car and I'm running open cutout on a downpipe) and he definately was a 6 speed.

25mph roll on he got a 1/4 car on me and I held him there until I hit 55 and then I pulled even and got my 1/4 car back by 75 and shut down. It might have gotten uglier as the RPMs climb and coming from an SRT4 (which is for all purposes a straight-line roll racer) I'm "afraid of sacrificing" top end you bet.

here for comparison purposes this is the kind of pulling power I'm used to (this is me shifting while holding the camera lol). Can a stock LS2 GTO with proper shifting match this type of acceleration?

I have two questions for you:

1) Is that a serious question or
2) a troll question?

I'm leaning more towards question #2.

My honest opinion of the pulling power of your car, as the video showed, really wasn't that impressive.

I'm not trolling I got better things to do but I want to make sure a STOCK GTO is pretty close to what I'm set up as at the moment as I'm afraid to lose the topend I like so much. I know what my car does on the track (low 13s 108-110mph traps typically) and with topend I usually look at the MPH. Can a GTO typically crack the 107-109 range at least and not something lower like the 103-105 range?

Plus I have a friend with an 08 Mustang GT (does 12.8 @ 107 on slicks) that I can yank from a roll (but not by much he's pretty quick). I don't wanna become his bitch if I swap out to the GTO next month.

It will trap 109 stock with ideal track conditions. I have done it before. Consistently though they are around 107 stock from what I have seen.
