Some old guy over this past weekend asked me about my 69 with the chrome 68 bumper. He proceeded to tell me when he worked for a pontiac dealer in pennsylvania in the parts department back in the 60's and 70's and they offered a dealer installed endura delete option for the 1969 gto's using the 68 bumper and how he had been looking for one for several decades now and hoped mine was one of them. Sadly I had to tell him no it isn't. He looked sad when I said no. He went on to tell me there were a couple cars ordered that way by customers and then the dealership made a couple to sell on their lot with the chrome 68 bumpers. Apparently the chrome front bumper was big in philly. We talked about cars for a long time, how he would swap different heads and cams and what the best street combo was (428, 744cam, #670 heads, factory intake, factory Qjet) He told me he never liked the 455 because "it made too much torque and not enough HP, it would just sit there and melt tires". I told him about the plan for my motor (350, 068, 69 #46 heads, eddy rpm and holley 750) he told me stick with the 72 intake and 69 Qjet i already have. He told me to never sell my goat and i told him the story of how i ended up with it and that selling it will never happen. He was a cool old dude. I told him about this forum, I hope he finds his way here.
