I don't think there is any after market type plate holder that will work without drilling.. 3M tape will not stand the rigors of vibration as the contact patch would be minimal. Leave it off as long as ya can. If the PD breaks your chops then it's your call for future incidents.

Leave it off until you get a fix-it ticket. Then attach the bracket with 3M Command adhesive. Go get the fix-it signed off -- then remove the bracket when you get home. Can also use Velcro -- but leave most of the backing on the pad that's attached to your bumper -- that way, it'll come off clean with a little pulling.

I finally gave in and had my plate put on. Amazingly enough, I got used to it. But for years, I'd get these stupid fix-it tickets -- then go to the local PD with my front plate attached with garbage bag twist-ties. The cop would always look from the front step of the station -- and give me the OK.

The bracket for the GTO isn't that bad. Seen a lot worse. One thing that's nice about it is that is kind of clicks into place on the lower intake grill. Again, that's how you could get away with short term Command or Velcro use.
