Twice this week I've got to start the engine in the morning and upon turning the key have got a full electrical shutdown. Everything, even the remote won't pop the trunk. After about 90 seconds everything comes back on and the car starts fine. I'm assuming the computer is rebooting.

This morning after the incident, the fuel gauge went to full and stayed there. After I arrived at my destination, I turned the car off then back on but the fuel went back to full.

Any advise. I started thinking, what if the computer fully shut down during driving? Has anyone else experienced this?

I haven't.

I read a few other forums today that kind of leaned towards a wiring problem with alternator or battery, however, that doesn't really explain why it reboots, then starts fine.

I suspect if I take to dealer, they are just going to guess and replace the computer...which likely is not the problem.

I am worried about it shutting down when driving...

I took the goat to a full service auto repair today. They responded that there were no computer codes (of course not, the computer rebooted and clears the codes) and suggested the dealer might have a better idea what is going on.

Regarding the fuel gauge, they said i need a fuel pump and will be $1100 since they have to drop the tank. Hmmmm.... the fuel gauge had no issue until the electrical shutdown, so unless an electrical surge destroyed the fuel "pump"? I think that is a cop-out response.

It is really easy to check and access the BCM wiring. All you need to insulate it is a slit piece of hose to put around it. I don't know of a dealer or "full service auto" place that knows much of anything about these cars. I recently read where someone wanted $1,500 to replace a $200 radiator that's a 45 minute job on the side of the road. This car is the ultimate DIY if you have a problem.

Yeah it took some time, but I fixed it for $2.38 (JB Weld). Not to mention the fact that the "technician" admittedly told me they had no clue what the problem could have been. Oh.....and they charged me $95 for a "diagnostic".... We, as GTO owners, are fortunate to have forums and knowledgable folks like SVEDE1212 to help us through our dilemas.

I found out soon after I bought the car in '04 that even dealers were clueless about these cars so I decided I needed to learn it. We were orphans from the start.
