Got to take the 69 on it's first trip yesterday. I bought the car in December and have not been over about 10 miles from home since. Yesterday we went to the big monthly cruise in Somerset Ky which is about 120 miles each way, mixture of interstate and 2 lane.

My new quick ratio steering is a real pleasure on the road. I had tuned the car up and before the timing was a 4 BTC, I moved it to 8 and was getting preignition on hard acceleration. With that limiting factor I had to drive fairly easy. I got 13.4 mpg going down and 14.2 on the way back.

On the way home I stopped in Elizabethtown, KY at key Oil Company who just happens to have a pump with 110 octane racing fuel which I am told is accessible 24 hrs. It has a credit card swiper and you just pump what you need.

Now, equipped with about a 50/50 mixture of racing fuel the beast was unleashed. That thing runs like a bat out of hell:reddevil:. The next time I fill up I'm going to try a 75/25 mixture and see if I can get away with that. The only bad part is the $6.99/gallon for the good fuel.

Anyway the car ran like a champ, got in a big jamb getting into the cruise and it stayed cool so I think I have a winner here.:patriot:

Sounds like a success and more road trips in store for you. Always helps build confidence when you finish-up an event-free trip like that. Car looks good too!

Just curios as so many ask/suggest compression ratios based on required octane.

What is the compression ratio of your engine?

What grade gas did you first fill up with on your trip that showed detonation?
